A Rather Late Animal Crossing Addiction
Recently, I have gotten a hold of Animal Crossing: New Horizons after a little while of playing New Leaf. And I will say I have definitely put in some hours during that first week. After getting a taste of Animal Crossing in general, I sorta regretted why i haven’t gotten into it sooner. It was almost everything I was looking for in a cozy game, really.
Stardew Valley was the first cozy game I played, I believe. And because of that game, I fell in love with the concept of making a garden.. err farm. And besides that I also got accustomed to the customization mechanics, making the farm look just the way I wanted it. Because of those two things, I had a great time with the game. But, I would sometimes wish for a game like this, just with a different premise other than farming. And I feel like New Horizons is close to what I was envisioning of back then.
I have to say that there are still some things that I like about New Leaf before going to New Horizons. To me, New Leaf’s animals are more alive than the ones in New Horizons. In New Leaf, I would always run around the village completing favors. On the other hand, The animals in my New Horizons island would either talk about the weather or the biodiversity of the island repeatedly every single time. In other words, it doesn’t have that level of closeness that I had with New Leaf. But, it does excel in everything else such as decorating, fashion, and especially the crafting mechanic.
So far, I am having a blast with New Horizons. Though, I definitely need to put up more decorations around my island.
